Sulfur Crystal is a rock trinket added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• Grants the effects of Brimstone at the beginning of every fourth room that has been entered for the first time. This effect is removed upon leaving the room.

Notes

• If Golem already has the effects of Brimstone, it will instead give Golem a +1.8 damage up for the current room and increase the size of the laser.
  • Any further additional copies of Brimstone that Golem already has will instead increase the damage without affecting the laser's size further.

Interactions

• Trinket Multipliers: The number of rooms needed to grant the effect is subtracted by Sulfur Crystal's total multiplier, rounded up — with a total multiplier that's more than 3, it will grant the effects of Brimstone for every room.
  • Henge Rock: Henge Rock's addition to the multiplier will cause it to become rounded up to +1.
  • Golem + Smelter: A trinket multiplier of < 1 will not increase the number of rooms needed to clear — however, it can reduce the effectiveness of certain trinket multipliers that grant a multiplier that's less than 1, such as Henge Rock.
• Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on Sulfur Crystal rerolls it into Grossular.

Trivia

• Sulfur Crystal has a similar combined effect to both the items Sulfur and Azazel's Rage.
  • Additionally, The modified version of the alchemical symbol for Sulfur, which is used in Sulfur's collectible sprite, appears to be etched within the Sulfur Crystal itself.
• Sulfur Crystal's flavor text could be a pun — sulfur is an element on the periodic table, and Sulfur Crystal's item effect occurs periodically.
